The Preschool Music and Art Program uses the creative arts to positively reinforce children by providing a safe space which allows children of all abilities to express themselves and learn without restrictions. The arts are a way for children to learn social, emotional, educational, and communication skills. Children are allowed to express themselves without judgment or criticism.
The art portion of the program uses a variety of mediums, teaching visuals, and textures to encourage sensory exploration, and educational learning sources. Children learn colors, create art, are encouraged to be expressive, and learn listening skills that will ultimately encourage them to become better learners.
The music portion of the program involves children in group performances, vocalizing, listening, moving, and dancing in an active creative environment. This environment encourages a child’s self-awareness, confidence, readiness skills, coping skills, gross and fine motor coordination, and social behavior through music.
Children also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the Music and Arts Specialist by using music and art to improve communication skills, motor skills, emotional skills, and social skills on a one-one-one level.
