A Letter from Karen Higgins
Since 1953, PARC has been enhancing the quality of life for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, PARC helps more than 800 individuals discover and unlock their possibilities. Our innovative programs provide practical, relevant experiences that promote achievement and independence. The grassroots efforts that started PARC more than 60 years ago are not forgotten today as we continue to provide an exceptional community service as well as advocate for so many at local, state and national levels.
As President and CEO, I am privileged to be witness to so many fantastic achievements, such as a child taking their first steps as a result of on-site therapies, the adult that has learned a job skill and obtained employment in the community, and the residents at one of PARC’s four homes that have been given the opportunity to participate in a community activity alongside their peers. Our website helps you see these programs and the people served daily.
PARC’s mission-driven, person-centered approach provides program participants with the opportunity to explore and choose services that best fit their needs. We envision a community where all individuals live with dignity and are treated with respect.
The best way to experience PARC is to take a tour, and I encourage you to do so. Call 727-345-9111 to schedule one today! If you spend an hour here, the participants, staff and volunteers will forever touch your heart.
Thank you for being part of PARC’s history and its future.
